Heat 1 tbsp of butter in a kadai over a medium flame. As soon as the butter melts, add 1 medium-sized roughly diced onion to it. Sauté it for half a minute or so until the onions turn soft and translucent. Now, add 7 large cloves of garlic in whole and sauté for another 20 seconds or so.
Then, add ¾ cup or 250 grams of fresh green peas (matar) and one whole green chili to it. Mix well and cook for just 10 seconds.
Now, add a glass of water to it, cover the kadai and let it cook for about 5 minutes over a medium flame.
Check doneness of the matar after 5 minutes with the help of a ladle and a spoon. It should break easily if done. Cook for a couple of minutes if it is not cooked properly.
Switch off the flame, remove the kadai from the stove and let the cooked matar cool down completely.
When cool, transfer the cooked peas along with the water in a grinding jar and make a smooth paste of it. Check the texture and consistency. It should be smooth without any grains in it.
Now, heat the kadai on a low flame again and pour the green peas paste in it. Wash the mixer jar and add the water as well. Mix well. Then, add salt to taste and ¼ tbsp of black pepper powder to it and mix nicely.
Now, add ½ tbsp of sugar to it and mix well. Check the consistency of the soup. Add water if necessary. Mix and let it come to a boil.
Add 1½ tbsp of lemon juice to the soup at this stage. Follow it up with ½ tbsp of butter and cook the soup until the butter melts completely and mixes with the soup.
Finally, add 2 tbsp of fresh and finely chopped coriander leaves to it and give it a nice stir. Transfer it to a soup bowl.
Your tasty and healthy homemade green peas soup is now ready to serve as is or with bread toast.
