Sattu Drink

By Mita Mondal
Sattu drink is one of the most refreshing and wholesome fresh drinks in the different parts of India, especially to combat the summer heat. The primary constituent of the drink is flour of roasted chickpea (sattu), which is then mixed with flavoring agents such as mint and coriander, sour mango, green chilies, onion, lemon juice, and seasoning with roasted cumin powder and black salt. Water is poured into the mixture, and the beverage is chilled, usually with ice cubes; hence, it serves both as a refreshing and energizing drink.

Notes

I have used green chilies in the paste. If you prefer, you can chop them as well and add them to the drink.
If there are kids at home who will also consume the sattu drink, do not add green chilies. Instead, add a bit of sugar to sweeten the drink for them to love.
Do not add too much lime juice to the drink, as the masala paste already contains raw mango.
