Dry coconut powder is a finely ground form of coconut obtained by peeling, washing, and grinding coconut slices. It has a rich, nutty flavor with sweetness and is often used as a versatile ingredient in various dishes, such as curries, desserts, baked goods, beverages, and more
Peel the brown skin from the backside of each piece with a knife or a peeler.(Pro tip: Be very careful if you are using a knife for it. Or else, take a whole coconut, tap the shell with a hammer continuously to remove it, and peel the brown skin with a peeler from the whole coconut. Then break it and cut it into small pieces).
Wash the slices of coconut thoroughly with water. Use a tissue to remove additional water from the pieces.
Now take a clean grinder. Transfer the coconut slices from the plate to the grinder.(Pro tip: For better grinding, do not grind all of the coconut pieces together. It will be easier and better if you put half of them into the grinder at a time).
Grind them to a fine powder and transfer it to a plate.
Now, take a frying pan and heat it on a low flame on your gas stove. When it is hot enough put the ground coconut in it.(Pro tip: Make sure that the flame is low to prevent the powder from being burnt. This will eventually affect the taste and color of the dry coconut powder).
Stir the coconut powder continuously until the excess water or moisture from it dries up completely.
When you smell the lovely fragrance of dry coconut, transfer the powder to a plate and your dry coconut powder is eventually ready to be used.
