Take 250 grams or 2 medium-sized pieces of Indian Mackerel fish in a pan and pour ½ cup of water along with ¼ tsp of salt, ¼ tsp of turmeric powder, and ½ tsp of black pepper powder. Cook them for 10 minutes on a low flame on one side and then flip to cook the other side as well.
When done, transfer them on a plate and allow to cool. Then, remove the bones and mince the fish.
Heat 1 tbsp cooking oil in a frying pan. By that time, chop one medium-sized onion finely and add to the oil when hot. Stir fry them until the onions turn soft and translucent.
Then, add salt to taste and ½ tsp of black pepper powder to it. Mix them and then add 1 tbsp red chili flakes to it.
Mix all the spices nicely and add the minced fish to it and sauté it nicely over a medium to high flame. Remove when the color of the fish changes to light brown and allow to cool.
When the fish mixture is cool enough, add 2 tbsp of mayonnaise and mix nicely. Keep it aside.
Now, take a bread slice, remove the edges and apply a generous amount of mayonnaise on it. Also, put a generous amount of fish stuffing on it.
Now, spread the fish stuffing evenly on the surface of the bread and top it with a few pieces of lettuce to cover the stuffing. Then, take another bread slice with mayonnaise brushed on its inside to cover it up nicely. Repeat steps 7 and 8 to make all the sandwiches.
Now, brush some cooking oil on a tawa and put it on low to medium heat. Place the fish sandwiches on it when hot. Press and let them cook on both sides.
Remove the sandwich when done and cut it diagonally.
Your tasty and healthy homemade fish sandwiches are now ready to serve.
