Masala chaas is made with curd and a spicy mixture of mint leaves, coriander leaves, chilies, ginger, and a bit of powdered spices such as black pepper powder, roasted coriander, and cumin powder. Lemon juice and black salt are also added for a twist in the taste.
Grind 1/3 cup of mint leaves, 1/3 cup of coriander leaves, 1 piece of green chili and a piece of ginger (1 inch in size) with 1 tbsp of water coarsely.
Then add a cup of curd, salt to taste, ½ tsp cumin powder (roasted), a pinch of black pepper powder, ¼ tsp of black salt, ¼ cup of water and blend nicely. Transfer to a bowl.
Add more water. Check consistency.
Add juice of half a lemon. Mix and pour it in glasses. Sprinkle roasted coriander powder.
Your healthy and tasty homemade masala chaas is ready.
Use fresh and thick curd to make masala chaas.I use roasted cumin and coriander powder because they add a unique taste and flavor to my masala chaas.Adding black salt adds to the taste and flavor. However, it can be skipped and replaced with an equal amount of regular salt.Though I have not used it, you may add ice to your masala chaas. Cold water is good enough. Masala chaas is usually runny. So do not make it too thick like lassi.
