Neer Dosa

Neer dosa is made with a rice and coconut batter. The rice is soaked overnight before blending with freshly grated coconut. It is then fried on a medium flame to perfection for a soft and fluffy texture.

Ingredients
  

To make the batter for neer dosa:

  • 1 cup rice washed, soaked overnight
  • ¼ cup coconut fresh, grated
  • 2.5 cups water
  • Salt to taste

To fry the neer dosa:

  • Cooking oil as much as required
  • Tissue paper
  • Water as much as required

Instructions
 

  • Wash and soak 1 cup of rice overnight.
  • Blend the soaked rice and a cup of freshly grated coconut with half a cup of water.
  • Transfer it to a bowl. Check thickness. Add salt to taste.
  • Add 2 cups of water more to achieve a running consistency.
  • Drizzle a preheated tawa with cooking oil. Wipe it with a tissue paper. Check the temperature of the pan by sprinkling a few drops of water on it.
  • Put the batter all over the surface of the tawa. Put a little bit of cooking oil on the sides. Cover and cook for a minute.
  • Remove the dosa when the top surface is dry.
  • Your soft and delicious homemade neer dosa is ready.

Notes

You can use any variety of rice to make neer dosa but ensure the grains are small.
You can soak rice for 5 to 6 hours but I soak it overnight because it helps in making softer dosa.
Add water gradually while blending. Do not add too much water as there will be moisture in the rice and coconut.
Ensure the batter is smooth. Grind it twice if needed. The thinner the batter, the better the dosa will be.
You may have to add more water to the batter while making the dosa because it will thicken by itself automatically.
