This recipe came to me through my phone, but not in the usual way. I use a local app for tailoring work, and while checking an order update, I ended up reading reviews. One review mentioned how the tailor’s wife cooks this dish while managing stitching work at home. That line stayed in my head for some reason. After some hesitation, I messaged her. She replied late at night, not very detailed, just saying what she normally does.

I made it one weekday evening when there were some green peas left and no patience. I didn’t expect much. The taste was simple and not spicy-heavy. My husband said it didn’t feel like “outside food,” which I took as a compliment. The boys joked about it and asked why it tasted different. We ate quietly after that. I felt slightly lucky finding it like this, without searching for it.

How to Make Green Peas Soup? (Step by Step Guide with Images)

Step 1: Heat 1 tbsp of butter in a kadai over a medium flame. As soon as the butter melts, add 1 medium-sized roughly diced onion to it. Sauté it for half a minute or so until the onions turn soft and translucent. Now, add 7 large cloves of garlic in whole and sauté for another 20 seconds or so.

Notes

I always recommend adding sugar to the soup as it enhances the taste.
You can add more water if your green peas soup tends to be too thick after adding sugar to it.
I do not recommend using corn flour to the soup. Ideally, the soup must be free flowing.
