Hara bhara kabab is made with a green paste made of spinach, green peas, and coriander leaves mixed with a variety of powdered spices like fennel seeds, crushed black pepper, roasted cumin seeds and more. It also includes vegetables like carrots, beans and cauliflower along with peanut and chana dal powder. The kababs are shallow fried first and deep fried to perfection for a crispy exterior and soft interior. The process to make hara bhara kabab at home is quite simple, as described in my recipe in detail.

A couple of months ago on my younger son’s birthday, one of my neighbors made this dish as an appetizer, which the kids liked it especially. I watched her closely as she put the ingredients together. She did it very carefully and precisely. She said this is the best and easiest way to get kids to eat vegetables gladly. I think she is right.
On a Sunday I made the kababs because my son asked me to. They turned out to be good. My husband and I were happy to see our sons eating the kababs without complaining. I was very thankful to the neighbor for sharing the kababs recipe with me and thanked her for helping me get my kids to eat the kababs and other vegetables.
