During a trip to Mathura recently with my family, I noticed these Pedas in almost every shop, mainly near temples. When I was there, I got very curious and asked the shopkeepers about the making of these but none of them gave me the formula. By chance, the manager of the guesthouse where we stayed helped me out after I told him about it. He brought me to the cook who was more than happy to give me the recipe. It was so easy!

After I got back, I tried it one day and both my sons loved it. My husband said they were just like the Mathura ones and it was his pleasure to have them again. I was so excited that I could hardly speak. I very sincerely thanked the manager and the cook of the guesthouse. Now, this dessert is a common feature in all our events and celebrations.

Notes

The Boora or Tagar is the primary ingredient of Mathura Peda. So, be patient and crumble it nicely.
Do not add the Boora when the Mawa mixture is still hot, or else the sugar will melt and the Pedas will become sticky and chewy.
I have used almonds like in traditional Mathura Pedas but you can use pistachios, cherries and other nuts.
