How to Make Fish Masala Powder? (Step by Step Guide with Images)

Step 1: Take a frying pan and heat it on a low to medium flame on your gas stove. When it is hot first put 20 pieces of dry red chilies on it. Stir them to roast them dry nicely and put them aside.

Step 2: Next, put 2 tbsp of coriander seeds in the frying pan.

Step 3: Stir them for a minute to roast them nicely.

Step 4: Then add 2 tbsp of black peppers into it.

Step 5: Stir them briskly for about a minute so that they do not get burnt while you roast them.

Step 6: Now add ½ tsp of fenugreek seeds and continue stirring the ingredients.

Step 7: Then add 1 tsp of both cumin seeds and mustard seeds to the roasted ingredients.

Step 8: Stir them until you hear the crackling sound. Put them aside.

Step 9: Now pour 2 tbsp of brown rice into the frying pan.

Step 10: Stir them for a minute till the color changes to deep brown.

  1. I would strongly suggest you to use fresh spices of top quality to make this powder at home. This will add to the taste and flavor.
  2. Roast the ingredients to perfection without burning them. This will help achieve the right texture of the powder and also add to its taste and flavor.
  3. Make sure you let the ingredients cool down completely before grinding. This will prevent clumping due to condensation.
  4. You may grind the spices a couple of times for a finer and smoother texture. However, grind intermittently to prevent heat generation by the rotating motor.
