I came across this recipe from a lady who sells diyas outside the temple. One evening, after buying a few, I noticed her eating rotis with something wrapped in banana leaf. She said that it does not need anything else to have rotis if one has this pickle by the side. It keeps her full during long days.
I asked for the recipe and she happily shared it. I made it that weekend. My husband said it had simplicity, and my sons called it “light-lamp food.” Now, it is our festive prep meal. That evening reminded me that faith glows not only in lamps—but also in recipes lit by devotion and daily effort.
