One evening when I was searching for new tiffin ideas on YouTube, I came across this mutton momo video. Both my sons had problems after eating momos from roadside stalls several times, so I decided to make it at home this time. I followed every step and instructions and they seemed so easy! The next morning, the children who returned from school started smiling after seeing the steaming mutton momos in the kitchen.

Seeing them happy, I also got more excited. My husband put green chutney on the first plate and said, “You have brought the hotel-like taste to home,” and I felt proud from within. There is no bigger compliment than this for me. Now making these momos once a week has become our small family tradition.

Making the momos

(Pro tip: Ensure the minced mutton mixture is cold while filling, otherwise the momos will be too soft and a watery liquid will come out).

Notes

You may add a little lemon juice to the filling. This will make the momos taste even better.
I always fill the minced meat after cooling it, this way the momo wrapper does not burst.
Do not over-stuff the momo with the mutton mixture, otherwise they will break and open while steaming.
Do not place the momos close to each other on the plate, otherwise they will stick and will be difficult to remove.
I have given traditional shapes to my momos. You can be as creative as you want.
