In Bengali cuisine, Pomfret Fry is a delicious recipe.  Marinate the fish with a spicy paste made up with turmeric, coriander, red chili powder, garlic, onion, ginger, besan and a little bit of lime juice.

Make sure the masala penetrates into the fish so make three four slits over the belly portion. Keep it aside for 30 mins.

Then pan fry with oil and serve it with salad. You can make this in Bengali, Konkani, Tamil, Maharashtrian, Goan and other styles.

Then keep the fish aside and add kalonji for tampering. Add the chopped tomatoes in it. Then when the tomatoes look “mushy mushy” add salt, turmeric, cumin, Kashmiri red chili powder and coriander to it. fry the masalas and then add a little bit of water to cook it.

When the oil and masalas start to separate out add water to make it a gravy and finally add the fishes to it. You can garnish it with fresh coriander leaves.

Pomfret Fish Tandoori

You just need to marinate the fish with salt, turmeric, cumin, Kashmiri red chili powder and tandoori masala.

Before that please slit the tummy section of the fish properly. Then keep it aside for 30 mins and then grill the fish for 15 to 20 mons about 180 Degree Celsius (356 Degree Fahrenheit).

You can garnish it with fresh coriander and serve with green chutney.
