I have learned this recipe from the mother of my son’s friend when we were in their school for a parent teacher meeting. We were talking about our kids’ studies and progress, with their occasional mischief of not wanting to study and, especially, being fussy about homemade food. When I said my younger son is too choosy about food and does not want to have vegetables or rice, she suggested I try this specific item, mentioning the easy steps in detail.

I made it the next day and was hoping my sons would be surprised, and they really were. The pulao turned out nice and delicious, and they asked for more, even my younger son did. My husband silently praised me and even gave a smile, eyeing my younger son. This told it all. I was so happy with the lady for sharing this recipe, which made my sons like simple, nutritious, homemade food.

Notes

I have not used green chilies in the recipe as I have included red chili powder in it. Otherwise, the pulao will be too spicy and hot.
You can use any variety of rice in the dish, though I have used Basmati rice. You can even use leftover rice to make tawa pulao.
Do not cook the rice after adding the lemon juice, or else, it will spoil the taste.
