Sojne data or Drumstick which is actually a pod of the Moringa Oleifera tree or plant. It is available all over the country and it is known as Nuggekai in Kannada, Murungakai in Tamil and Munagakaya in Telugu.

Bengali Sojne Saag Chorchori:

“Chorchori” means dry curry. This is a unique style of cooking where the gravy and excess water is fully dried out so that you can enjoy the curry in a better way.

Sojne Saag Chorchori where the drumstick stem and leaves are being used to prepare a mushy mushy curry with pumpkin leaves, rabi leaves, cauliflower leaves and turnip leaves are sometimes used to make Chorchori.

But here we use pumpkin, potato, eggplant and tomato with Paach Foron tempering with little bit of salt and turmeric.

You can serve this dish with steamed rice.

Drumstick Flower Fitters:

The availability of drumstick flowers is becoming very rare. But it is available during the spring season. You can wash the flowers and then add some rice flour and posto and fry it. It will taste wonderful at the same time.

Sojne Data Chorchori or Shone Datar Panchmishali:

Like the Sojne Saag Chorchori, Sojne data chorchori is almost similar. But here the stems are being used in a bit more amount. The whole recipe is being focused on the data.

The data is being used with pumpkin, potato, eggplant and tomato with Paach Foron tampering with a little bit of salt and turmeric, red chili powder and coriander powder.

It will be creating a mushy mushy curry forming an excellent data chorchori with a mustard base. The beans, pods, pumpkin, potato, eggplant and tomato blend together and offer a great curry to make it wonderful.

You can add “Daal er Bori” if you want. This is a simply healthy and delectable dish.

Aloo Diye Shojne Data Chorchori:

You can add only potatoes and drumsticks and prepare a wonderful curry.

This is a very simple dish where just Nigella tempering and dried red chilli with salt and turmeric, red chili powder and coriander powder & make it cook perfectly.

You can simply cook it till the moisture goes away from the whole preparation and leave you with a little bit of moisture and the whole curry.

If you want then you can add coconut paste along with it.

Plain Drumstick Curry:

This is a very easy and quick recipe where drumstick is being cooked with tomatoes and sliced onions, chopped garlic with salt and turmeric, red chili powder and coriander powder & make it cook perfectly.

Drumstick Masala:

This is cooked with varied aromatic spices along with curry leaves and mustard tempering. Desiccated coconut is being used to make this recipe and it is blended with many things.

Drumsticks Cutlets:

This is a unique drumstick recipe where the pulp is being used to make the stuffing of the cutlets. This is made with drumstick pulp and boiled potatoes with some of the aromatic spices.

Drumstick Curry:

This is a gravy curry where Nigella tempering and dried red chilli with salt and turmeric, red chili powder and coriander powder is used with tomatoes, potatoes and Parwal.

You can prepare the gravy with sliced onions, chopped garlic and ginger paste or make it plain. You can add tamarind to add some tanginess in the whole preparation.

Drumsticks Leaves Soup:

During the winter season the drumstick leaves with papaya and other healthy vegetables are being used to prepare a soup. You can add pepper and oregano to make it heavenly.

Crisp Drumsticks Patties:

The pulp of the drumstick is mixed with potatoes to make patties. This is being dipped in cornflour and then again dipped in breadcrumbs to make patties which are crispy and equally wonderful to taste.

Drumstick with Potatoes:

This is like a spicy curry though it is very simple yet very delicious. The potatoes and the drumstick are boiled and then cooked with mustard tempering and using curry leaves.

You can use tomatoes, sliced onions, chopped garlic and ginger paste to make the gravy. You can simply serve it with hot rice.

Toor Dal with Drumstick/Sambar:

Here you can use many vegetables along with toor dal or just drumstick and the turmeric with a little bit of tempering with red chilli.

But if you are making sambar then it is noted that you do the tempering with curry leaves along with tamarind pump adding when the vegetables and the daal is being boiled.

Murungai Keerai Adai:

The drumstick leaves are being used along with rice and daal paste to prepare a nice South Indian breakfast. This is being widely used to make a wonderful healthy start of the entire day.

Moringa Leaves Chaat:

The Moringa leaves are being used to prepare a snack dish which is used as a tea time snack in south India. This is a nice appetizer and you can impress your guest in its fullest way.

Drumstick with Fish:

Adding drumstick in fish curry makes it much more enriched and special. In the spring time when the availability of the drumsticks are much then the pods are added to the fish gravy too.

This is an authentic Bengali dish where drumstick is being used with other vegetables like potato, raw banana, egg plant, posto paste, mustard paste and more. Tempering is done with radhuni and then garnished with pure ghee.
